Job description

TerrAvion is seeking an Accountant to increase operational efficiencies and financial accuracies in accordance with GAAP. The ideal candidate will be the accounting leader at the organization and will help streamline processes as the company continues to grow and scale.

 

The Accountant is a full-time position in San Leandro, CA, and reports to the CFO.

 

Responsibilities:

    • Serve as a key player in month close, preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts
    • Quantitative and qualitative analysis of  financial statements, report findings to CFO
    • Calculate and distribute commission reports to sales team
    • Process AR and AP invoices and follow up with vendors/customers
    • Work with division heads to build and maintain departmental budgets
    • Assist in annual tax preparation and filing activities for parent company and subsidiaries
    • Work with accounting team to review and post journal entries when needed
    • Review invoices, expense reports, and credit card expenses for accurate coding to the general ledger
    • Investigate and respond to internal and vendor inquiries related to expense transactions
    • Coach new employees how to navigate and master the expenditure system
    • Assist the department in the creation of new processes and implementation of new systems as the organization continues to evolve and grow
    • Support with additional administrative responsibilities and projects – TerrAvion is a startup and there are many projects to work on across departments

 

Requirements:

    • Previous experience as an accountant, junior accountant, or accounting supervisor
    • Excellent spreadsheet skills; Microsoft Office and Google Suite knowledge
    • Proficiency with accounting software and experience with a software system implementation a plus
    • Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
    • Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

      You understand the importance of accurate data and are highly detail oriented. You double and triple-check your work because you know that accurate data is crucial for an Accounting Department to operate successfully. You pay strong attention to detail, have excellent math, grammar, spelling and proofreading skills.
    • Organized
      You understand that a million things can get thrown at you at once and can multitask because you keep things in order. You enjoy documentation and creating policies and rules for the organization.
